Strabismus Surgery Has Arrived in Togo!
A message from Lewis Swann, Founder of Sight.org
Dr. Ed Kondrot, Sight.org’s Surgical Director and Board Member, joined a recent Sight.org campaign with his wife, Ly, and performed Strabismus Surgery, a surgical procedure used to correct misaligned or crossed eyes. To our knowledge, this procedure has been nonexistent in Togo due to the lack of training. During this campaign, three doctors observed the surgery, and one performed the procedure under Dr. Kondrot’s guidance. Dr. Kondrot plans to return to Togo soon to continue training doctors in Strabismus Surgery, and the ophthalmologists of Togo are so grateful. The Kondrots are the best!
Many people in need of Strabismus Surgery are children; thus, this surgery impacts a person for a lifetime. In this part of the world, this could mean an education and a much greater potential for getting married and having a family.
You are changing lives every day!
Bless you!
Lewis Swann
