We are heading out to Africa for free cataract and strabismus surgeries and we are in dire need of 6.0 vicril sutures with doubled armed spatulated needles.

We just bought a box for $600. Ouch! And we need more.

The heart is there to do the work but the funds are limited.

If your surgery center has any of these sutures to donate please email us at info@healingtheeye.com or call us at 602-989-8166

Dr Kondrot does not perform these surgeries in the USA. All donated supplies are going solely to mission trips.

Thank you! ❤️🩷🧡

Simple Eye Exercises to Improve Tear Flow For Dry Eyes Patients

Dry eye syndrome is a common condition where the eyes fail to produce enough tears or tears evaporate too quickly, leaving the eyes feeling gritty, irritated, and dry. While treatments like artificial tears and medications can help, incorporating specific eye exercises into your routine can stimulate tear production, strengthen the muscles around the eyes, and improve overall eye comfort. This article explores effective exercises for improving tear flow, combining mainstream techniques with holistic and natural approaches for maximum benefit.

How Do Eye Exercises Help with Tear Flow?

Eye exercises improve tear flow by stimulating the meibomian glands (which produce the oily layer of tears), enhancing circulation to the eyes, and relaxing the muscles involved in blinking. These exercises can also reduce stress, a common contributor to dry eyes, and improve overall eye function.

Exercises to Improve Tear Flow

1. Conscious Blinking Exercise

Blinking is a natural way to spread tears across the surface of the eyes. However, modern lifestyles involving prolonged screen time often reduce blink rates.

  • How to Do It:

    1. Close your eyes gently.

    2. Squeeze the eyelids together lightly (do not strain).

    3. Open your eyes slowly.

    4. Repeat 10 times every hour, especially during screen use.

  • Benefits: Restores the tear film and reduces tear evaporation.

  • Mindful Blinking: Practice this exercise while meditating or listening to calming music to reduce stress and increase focus on the blinking process.

  • Pair blinking exercises with warm compresses to stimulate the meibomian glands and enhance tear quality.

2. The 20-20-20 Rule

Prolonged focus on screens can lead to eye strain and decreased tear production. The 20-20-20 rule reduces digital eye strain by encouraging regular breaks.

  • How to Do It:

    1. Every 20 minutes, look at an object 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

  • Benefits: Prevents tear evaporation by giving the eyes a chance to rest and blink naturally.

  • Nature Gaze: When possible, look at greenery or natural landscapes instead of objects indoors. Nature has been shown to reduce stress and improve tear stability.

3. Palming Exercise

Palming relaxes the muscles around the eyes and helps retain moisture.
